The 2–3mm Rule: The Foundation of Length Selection

The safest and most natural-looking lash extension length is 2–3mm longer than the client's natural lash. This rule ensures the extension is supported by the natural lash without creating excessive leverage that causes premature shedding or natural lash damage.

• Natural lash 7mm → extension 9–10mm
• Natural lash 9mm → extension 11–12mm
• Natural lash 11mm → extension 13–14mm
• Natural lash 13mm → extension 15–16mm

Maximum Safe Length by Natural Lash Type

• Fine/thin natural lashes: Maximum 3–4mm longer than natural lash; fine lashes cannot support heavy extensions
• Medium natural lashes: Maximum 4–5mm longer; the most common natural lash type
• Thick/strong natural lashes: Up to 5–6mm longer; strong lashes can support more length
